Week 8 - May 12, 2017

We're 8 weeks old! That means we all had our soaps and our conformation evaluations done. First we had to get slicked down with some thick shampoo - one at a time. Then we were supposed to stack on the table. We did pretty good.  Then we finished our bath, got dried with the hair dryer and had to stack on the table again. Mom and Dad wanted to see our straight legs and our beautiful structure. They said we are gorgeous puppies!

We napped in crates again this week. Mom and Dad had a Puppy Party this week and we were the main attraction! Lots of people came to play with us and see how amazing we are. We also got to go on a hike with our mom, Kali, to celebrate turning 8 weeks old. We leaned how to jump over logs, run through tall grass and follow Mama Kali in a nice line (sometimes).  This week we had visitors, car rides and got to play outside a lot! We are also weaned (that means we only eat puppy food now - no nursing), but Mama Kali still loves to play with us - and teach us our manners.

Week 7 - May 5, 2017

We are becoming independent! (Mom and Dad told us that.) The most exciting part of our week was meeting lots of new people who came to visit us. We loved all the attention! We also got to play outside everyday. We love to run and chase each other. We follow the big dogs around. We also love to walk with Mom and Dad. We only nurse once a day now - mostly we eat our puppy food. We went for more car rides and we're getting pretty good at it. We also started napping in a crate. We love our new independence!

Week 6 - April 28, 2017

We got to play outside some more this week, until it started to snow! There's lots to discover outside - like sticks, stones, flowers and lots of things we can try to put in our mouths. Our teeth are all in and looking perfect. They are very sharp and we learned the word "ouch." Our humans do NOT like when we bite their toes. We are eating more puppy food and nursing less, but Mama  Kali still loves to cuddle with us. We also went for our fist car ride. We did great! We'll go for more rides next week. We can't wait.

Week 5 - April 21, 2017

We started puppy preschool this week! We get to go to a special play area where we get to explore, run, climb, crawl under, climb through, etc. The preschool play area includes steps that we can climb up or crawl under, a tunnel, lots of soft beds that we can jump in and out of, a small slide (that we LOVE!), a "pit ball" area, our adventure box and of course - lots of toys.. What fun we’re having! Our teeth are coming in and this week we got to try puppy food for the first time. Yummy! Our favorite part is when we are almost done and Mama Kali comes in to lick out the dish with us!

Week 4 - April 14, 2017

This week we discovered that humans are fun! We love to go running over to our human family, wag our tails and climb up into their laps to snuggle. Then we're off again to play with our littermates and our toys. So much to discover! We also love to play with some of the other big dogs in the house. What fun. We also got to play in our new adventure box. The adventure box has lots of fun things hanging down that we can bump, push aside, bat at, play with, etc. It introduces us to the  sights, sounds, touch and motion that we will experience during our lives. It helps us become more confident! We just think its a fun place to play.
Oh, and big news - our teeth are coming in.

Week 3 - April 7, 2017

This week we learned how to play. We spend a bit more time awake now and love to wrestle, chew and bat at our siblings.
We even have some toys now, but we think our siblings are the best toy of all. We’ve attempted to run and jump, although we need more practice at that! We have a pee pad now and we know how to use it! This really seems to amaze everyone and they say things like, “good puppy!” Oh yea – our ears are open now too. So every afternoon we listen to our Puppy Sounds CD.

Week 2 - March 31, 2017

We had a busy week.
We learned to push ourselves up from a creeping position and stand (a bit wobbly) on all 4 legs.
We took our first steps – right towards Mama Kali! Mostly we napped and nursed and got all rolly polly.
The most exciting part of this week was that we opened our eyes. What a beautiful world! Tomorrow we graduate from SuperDog!

We’ve spent the week nursing and napping. We get weighed twice a day. Boy, have we grown!
Mama Kali takes good care of us. We love to burrow under her silky hair until we disappear.
We also started our SuperDog program this week.

Here are the temporary names of the puppies of the Best Friend Litter.
(in order of birth)

We’ve given Kali’s puppies temporary names that all mean “friend” or “friendly” in different languages.

Nissa - female, 4.6 oz., Black Irish Pied. The Irish Pied refers to specific white markings – 4 white feet, a white tip on the tail, a white tummy, some white on the chest and some white on the neck. Nissa means friendly elf in Swedish.

Jebediah (Jeb) - male, 5.1 oz., Black with a small amount of white markings (his left rear paw is white and he has a narrow blaze of white on his chest). His name means “friend” in Hebrew.

Mico - male, 5.1 oz., Black (he does have a small white dot on his chest). His name comes from “amico” which is Italian for friend

Dakota - male, 4.9 oz., Black Irish Pied. Dakota, of Native American origin, means friend, friendly or ally.
